Trip Overview
This trek is moderately challenging. You will be travelling on the steep path to reach Annapurna South Base Camp at 4,130 m. You will be trekking for 6 to 8 hours, along with the rocky ridges almost every day. Even though you do not need any previous experience, however, you need to be fit and enjoy trekking in high altitude places. This trip is feasible for seasons of the year, except monsoon season (from July to August)
Our trek starts at Phedi, which is about an hour’s drive from the tourist capital of Nepal – Pokhara, and then we will gradually ascend until we reach Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m. Your way passes through several typical Nepali villages, but the types of these villages depend on the ethnic communities that reside there. Along our way, we will meet ethnic groups including the Gurungs, Magars and Thakalis. Nepalis are quite friendly, and you can make a conversation with them. Along the way, you will be surrounded by rhododendron trees, while majestic Himalayan Peaks linger in the background. The path you take while returning is still more attractive as your path snakes through different ridges, guiding you to the beautiful village of Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, early in the morning, you will get to see great views of glistening snow-capped peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains.
The trip will be even more magnificent during the Spring Season when the whole forest seems coloured in hues of red, pink and white with rhododendron flowers.
